Day 1ArushaArusha/ Lake Manyara: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Met by a Nature Expeditions representative and depart for Lake Manyara Nationaonduvai gougel Park to arrive for lunch at the Lodge. On our afternoon game drive we seek the famous tree-climbing lions, a sight we will most definitely never forget. Dinner and overnight at LODGE (full board).
Lake Manyara National Park is 330 km² of which 230 km² is Lake Manyara. This unusual park lies in the shadow of the Great Rift Valley whose reddish brown escarpment wall looms 1,950 feet high (600 metres) on the eastern horizon. Waterfalls spill over the cliff and hot springs bubble to the surface in the south. 125 km west of Arusha town, from where it is a half an hour flight or a two-hour drive.

Much of the park often appears to be in a heat haze created by the soda lake - Lake Manyara. The lake attracts considerable birdlife, and its surrounding terrain contains such a rich mosaic of different habitats that it supports a large number of animals.
The park is accessed by road via the village of Mto wa Mbu, an eclectic market town where several tribes have converged to form a linguistic mix like nowhere else in Africa.
Such diverse surroundings attract equally diverse species such as monkeys, antelopes, zebras, hippos and crocodiles, buffalo, giraffe and a high density of elephants. The park is particularly known for its tree-climbing lions, who may be seen sleeping off the heat of the day on a branch instead of a shady spot on the ground like most other lions.
Fish-eating birds inhabiting the lake include pelicans, storks, cormorants and Egyptian geese. Flamingoes colour the lake pink as they arrive to feed at the lake during their migration. One unforgettable sight is a giant flock of red billed quelea who gather in their thousands and waft
Day 2SerengetiLake Manyara/ Serengeti: After breakfast at the Lodge, drive to Africa's most famous park - the Serengeti. Arriving in time for lunch at your Lodge. Afternoon game drive later return to the lodge. All meals and overnight at LODGE (full board).
The Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and the Maasai Mara Game Reserve across the border in Kenya, protect the greatest and most varied collection of terrestrial wildlife on earth, and one of the last great migratory systems still intact. The Serengeti region encompasses the Serengeti National Park itself, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Maswa Game Reserve, the Loliondo, Grumeti and Ikorongo Controlled Areas and the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. Over 90,000 tourists visit the Park each year.
Two World Heritage Sites and two Biosphere Reserves have been established within the 30,000 km² region. It's unique ecosystem has inspired writers from Ernest Hemingway to Peter Mattheissen, filmakers like Hugo von Lawick and Alan Root as well as numerous photographers and scientists - many of which have put their works at our disposal to create this website.

The Serengeti ecosystem is one of the oldest on earth. The essential features of climate, vegetation and fauna have barely marabul stockchanged in the past million years. Early man himself made an appearance in Olduvai Gorge about two million years ago. Some patterns of life, death, adaptation and migration are as old as the hills themselves.
Day 3SerengetiSerengeti: Spend another full day to explore its 5,600 sq. miles. We will see cheetah, giraffe, lion, leopard, elephant - the list is endless. And each year it is the scene of the great migration where millions of wildebeest and zebra make their annual trek in search of fresh grass. Serengeti National Park is the Africa most of us have seen on television. Many National Geographic specials have been filmed here.
Now we can see first hand why so many naturalists and photographers are drawn to this place. All meals at the lodge, overnight at LODGE (full board).
It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge or crocodile infested river can hold them back.
The Wildebeest travel through a variety of parks, reserves and protected areas and through a variety of habitat. Join us to explore the different forms of vegetation and landscapes of the Serengeti ecosystem and meet some of their most fascinating inhabitants.
Day 4NgorongoroSerengeti / Ngorongoro: After breakfast, morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. After lunch, depart for Ngorongoro via Olduvai Gorge, site of archeological findings, where traces of pre- historic man dating back to 3.5 million years ago have been discovered. Ngorongoro's caldera shelters the most beautiful wildlife haven left on earth. The Maasai and their cattle co-exist with the wildlife in this area, and visitors are able to appreciate this ancient interplay between wildlife and man. Interpretive game drives through the emerald plains and forests of the crater floor engender guests with a respect for the people and wildlife of this world wonder. Dinner and overnight at LODGE (full board).

The Ngorongoro Crater is often called ?Africa?s Eden? and the '8th Natural Wonder of the World,? is a definite world-class serengeti National Parkattraction. Ngorongoro Crater and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area are without a doubt some of the most beautiful parts of Tanzania, steeped in history and teeming with wildlife.

Within the crater rim, large herds of zebra and wildebeest graze nearby while sleeping lions laze in the sun. At dawn, the endangered black rhino returns to the thick cover of the crater forests after grazing on dew-laden grass in the morning mist. Just outside the crater?s ridge, tall Masaai herd their cattle and goats over green pastures through the highland slopes, living alongside the wildlife as they have for centuries.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area includes its eponymous famous crater, Olduvai Gorge, and huge expanses of highland plains, scrub bush, and forests that cover approximately 8300 square kilometres. A protected area, only indigenous tribes such as the Masaai are allowed to live within its borders. Lake Ndutu and Masek, both alkaline soda lakes are home to rich game populations, as well as a series of peaks and volcanoes and make the Conservation Area a unique and beautiful landscape. Of course, the crater itself, actually a type of collapsed volcano called a caldera, is the main attraction. Accommodation is located on its ridges and after a beautiful descent down the crater rim, passing lush rain forest and thick vegetation, the flora opens to grassy plains throughout the crater floor. The game viewing is truly incredible, and the topography and views of the surrounding Crater Highlands out of this world.

This truly magical place is home to Olduvai Gorge, where the Leakeys discovered the hominoid remains of a 1.8 million year old skeleton of Australopithecus boisei, one of the distinct links of the human evolutionary chain. In a small canyon just north of the crater, the Leakeys and their team of international archaeologists unearthed the ruins of at least three distinct hominoid species, and also came upon a complete series of hominoid footprints estimated to be over 3.7 million years old. Evacuated fossils show that the area is one of the oldest sites of hominoid habitation in the world.
Day 5NgorongoroNgorongoro: After breakfast, full day tour of Ngorongoro. Here you can see a spectacular concentration of wildlife, including the big five. Ngorongoro creater lodgeDrive across the dense forest near the soda lake and enjoy viewing a variety of bird life. Ascend to the lodge from the 2000ft. deep crater. Picnic lunch on the way.
Dinner and overnight at LODGE (full board).
Day 6ArushaNgorongoro/ Arusha: After breakfast, depart for Arusha. Lunch at New Arusha Hotel. Transfer to the airport to board your onward flight home or to Zanzibar.
